Alverta J. Chernich

Alverta J. Chernich, 97, of Cornwall died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Anthony F. Chernich of whom she was married to for 48 years. She was born in W. Cornwall Twp. on February 8, 1914, daughter of the late Edward and Minerva Snavely Whitman. She was a member of Cornwall United Methodist Church where she was active with the Women’s Society. She was a member of the Rexmont Ladies Aux., Senior Center in Cornwall and enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. Alverta is survived by her children: Eugene E. Chernich and his wife Margaret, Lebanon; Janice M. Massar and her husband, Frederick, Cornwall; Antoinette M. Stabs and her husband Waldemar, Cornwall; Linda J. Mastracci, Cornwall; Joan M. Keller and her husband Gerald, Cleona; Jane F. Spangler and her husband Glenn, Cleona; 17 Grandchildren and 27 Great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son: Bruce L. Chernich; four sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon where a viewing will be held at 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
