Doris Louise Gates

Doris L Gates went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday January 17, 2026. Doris was born on July 21, 1928 to John and Emma Early. She met Harry William Gates at Lebanon High School and they were married on June 1, 1947. Harry died January 1, 2017. Doris was preceded in death by her sister Joanne and her brother John.

Harry and Doris have four sons – Gary (Alice), Scott, Craig, and Kevin (Cheryl). They have 6 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She cherished her time with her family and friends hosting many family and friend gatherings from backyard luau’s to Holiday gatherings.

Doris was a woman of faith, after watching a Billy Graham Crusade, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior on June 8, 1957. Her love for the Lord was evident to all who knew her. Doris was a member of the former First Evangelical Congregational Church of Lebanon, now Christ Community Church of Myerstown, where she taught Sunday School.

Growing up Doris was a member of the 10th Street Tigers in Lebanon. Doris entertained local Clubs, Groups, schools, and other Civic organizations by presenting her “Grandma’s Attic Treasures” showing her antiques, hats, and beaded bags, along with colorful stories of local people. She was a Past President of Christian Business Women and the local Red Hat Society. Doris and Harry were members of two local dance clubs winning awards. She also loved to play Scabble and continued playing up to a few weeks before her passing.

After 97 memorable years Doris is now with the love of her life and joined Harry in Heaven.

Service will be held at the Rohland Funeral Home on Friday February 20 with Visitation from 10-11 followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00
