

Jay Roger Erb, 89, of East Petersburg, passed away on Saturday, March 18th, 2017 in the Brethren Village Retirement community. He was born on January 15th, 1928 in East Petersburg, a son of the late David H. and Carrie Miller Erb. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Uhrich Erb who passed away December 5th, 2009, for 56 years. Mr. Erb was retired Co-Owner/ Operator of Erb’s Market with his brother Hager in East Petersburg. He helped to develop and grow the town of East Petersburg. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and Japan WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, East Petersburg. Surviving are his children: David Erb of Avon, CT; Michael Erb, Mountville; Sue Morrow, State College; Nancy, wife of Kevin Emes, Schwenksville; grandchildren: Mitchel, husband of Liz Erb; Lauren; Kathryn; Erin and Danielle; great grandson: Oliver Erb; Sister: Juliann Erb, Ephrata. Mr. Erb was predeceased by his brother: Hager Erb and his sister: Suzann Shelly. A memorial service will be held in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1905 Broad St., East Petersburg, PA, 17520 on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017 at 11:00AM with a visitation from 10:00AM until the time of the service.
