

Joseph F. Palmer, Jr., 77, Lebanon, passed away on Wednesday September 24, 2014 in the Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara A. Shive Palmer with whom he celebrated a 26th wedding anniversary in July and the late Arlene M. Hamilton Palmer. He was born in Upper Darby, PA on December 28, 1936 a son of the late Joseph F., Sr. and Mary Nawn Palmer. He was a graduate of Widener University and had served in the United States Army National Guard. He was a member of Open Door Baptist Church, Lebanon and was an Eagles and Phillies fan who also loved to garden. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren who affectionately called him “P-Pop.” In addition to his wife he is survived by children: David Palmer, Steven Palmer, Brian and wife Lynleigh Palmer, David Silcox, Mark and wife Janet Silcox, Abigail wife of John Banks, Sarah wife of Thomas Martin; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 P.M. from the Open Door Baptist Church, 875 Academy Drive, Lebanon, PA 17046 where a viewing will begin at 12:00 P.M. Interment will be made in the Covenant Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lebanon Christian Academy, 875 Academy Drive, Lebanon, PA 17046. The Rohland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
