He is survived by his sister Florence MacLean; Brother-in-law Jim Stanley; his sons: Todd(Tania) & Darren; as well as grandkids: Reegan, Alex and Cayden.
Don was a kind and gentle man that everyone loved. After graduation he was accepted into university to be a heavy-duty mechanic. Instead, he followed his father's wishes and took over the family farm, as well as working at the Leduc Co-Op for many years.
Don made a lot of friends wherever he went and was so lucky to have so many who reached out and visited him in his final days.
Don loved to curl in his younger days and was still friends with some of his old curling team. He also loved to watch curling, in particular his favourite team, skipped by Rachel HOMAN. Don was able to see her team curl live recently, and that was a joy for him.
Donald so loved watching his kids and grandkids sports throughout the years. He also travelled quite a bit, trips to Texas, Phoenix, Florida, Alaska and the Panama Canal. He loved to chase the sun.
Over the last few months Don reminisced about a trip he took in his youth with his friend Walter Heintzman. He smiled thinking about that trip, it was a memorable trip for him.
Don was also happy to have made so many friends at Salem Mews and loved going for coffee time. He also continued to walk over to Salem Manor after his wife passed, and the staff were always so nice and happy to see him.
Don will be missed by all that loved him. As per Don's request there will be no funeral, and he will be cremated and buried beside his wife Shirley.
Arrangements entrusted to Hainstock & Son Funeral Chapel (Leduc)
