Left to mourn and hold dear the memories of a life so very well lived are her daughter Ingrid (Paul), son Norman (Carol) grandchildren Caitlin (Darren), Spencer (Kathleen), Darren (Laura), Kristen (Brett), and five great grandchildren Brayden, Clara, Aubrey, Addalyn and Maddison. She will also be remembered by her sisters-in-law, Mary Ohrn, Brenda Campbell and many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her parents Edward and Ethel Campbell, her sister Ainslie, brother-in-law Ves, brother Hugh, sister-in-law Margaret, brother-in-law Ralph, niece Vicki and nephew Doug.
Mom was a much-loved educator in the Leduc district and touched many lives throughout her 36 years as a teacher. She began her teaching career at Progress School in 1946 and then moved to Dniester School for two years. After that, Mom taught six years at Thorsby High School and finished her career at Humble School in 1982. She consistently strived for excellence and brought the best of herself to the students she taught. The classroom was her second home, and she welcomed each student with open arms.
Alongside this very demanding career Mom married her sweetheart, Don in 1950, and began her second career as a farm wife and mother to which she also dedicated her significant energies. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy throughout her life.
The service to celebrate the life of Doris Ethel Ohrn was held at Hainstocks Funeral Home, Edmonton, AB.
Because Mom so loved her pets, especially her cats, and cared for so many over the years, donations in Mom’s memory would be gratefully received by the Edmonton Humane Society at 13620 163 St. N.W. Edmonton, Alberta T5V0B2.
