Dorothy's life was a beautiful tapestry of roles- cherished daughter, loving sister, loving wife, nurturing mother, and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. Each chapter added a new layer of love and wisdom to our family story.
Born in Somerset, England, Dorothy lived a remarkable life filled with adventure, friendship, hard work, and a deep love for family and horses. A well-known horsewoman and accomplished dressage rider, she spent many years training and racing horses alongside her beloved husband, Derek. Dorothy found joy in life's simple pleasures- gardening, sharing tea and cookies, playing Scrabble and cards with family, and creating lasting memories with those she loved. Her laughter, kindness, and gift for storytelling touched everyone she met.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Earnest and Phyllis Wigley; her beloved husband, Derek Jones; and her sister, Betty Thomas.
Dorothy is survived by her loving son, John (Shirley) Jones; her grandson, Rodney (Jodie) Jones; her granddaughter, Diana (Emil) Opitz; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Anneliese, Konrad, Jack, Julianna, and Gabrielle "Gigi." She is also survived by extended family members and many dear friends whose lives she touched throughout the years. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff of Chateau Vitaline & Cloverleaf Manor for the care, kindness, and dignity shown to Dorothy throughout her final years.
