

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Brian (Kathy); brothers, Albert (Gladys) & Ken (Fern); sister-in-law, Laurie; as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.
John was predeceased by his wife, Bernadine “Bernice”; parents, Stanley and Francis; sisters Vicky and Anne; and brothers, Walter and Edward.
John was born on May 8, 1932, in Webster, AB, and spent his youth on the family farm in Grande Prairie. He later joined the Canadian military & served in Germany, England and Holland as part of NATO. John received a Special Service Medal with the NATO bar for his time serving in the European Theatre. When John returned to Canada, he started his career in the oil & gas industry – working in Alberta, Saskatchewan and the USA. Eventually john started his own heavy-duty mechanic business and retired in 2017.
In 2024, John moved into Assisted Living at Chateau Vitaline in Beaumont.
The family is very grateful and would like to thank the nurses and staff at Chateau Vitaline for the wonderful care & kindness they gave Dad during his time there. To the doctors and nurses on Unit 51 at the Grey Nuns Hospital – we thank you for making Dad’s final days comfortable, and for all the care you gave him.
In keeping and respecting Dad’s wishes, no service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in John’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta & the Northwest Territories are greatly appreciated.
