It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lorraine (Lea) Evelyn Sept in the early morning hours of June 20, 2026, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Lea was a loving mother, cherished wife, incredible grandmother, and remarkable woman, and was only two days shy of her 78th birthday.
Born in Deloraine, Manitoba on June 22, 1948, Lea was one of identical twin girls born to Norman and Florence Austin. Her childhood years were spent in Virden, Manitoba where she graduated from high school. Lea then turned her attention to serving her country, deciding to join the Canadian Air Force. It was while stationed in Cold Lake, Alberta that she met her future husband, Bob. After they both took their release from service, the couple settled in Leduc to raise their family and Lea began to work at the R.C.M.P detachment, where she was promoted through various roles until her retirement from her position of Court Liaison officer in 2009.
Lea is predeceased by both of her parents; Norman and Florence Austin, and her infant twin sister Elaine.
She is survived by her best friend and husband of 55 years Robert "Bob"; son, Darren; daughter, Amber (Chuck); two beloved granddaughters: Gabrielle and Maleana; her oldest brother, Norm (Janice); sister, Eileen (Ken), sister, Gloria (Phil); and youngest brother, Bruce.
Lea will also be greatly missed by her extended family, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m, on Wednesday July 1, 2026, in St. Michael Catholic Church, 5105 45A St, Leduc, AB
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Lea’s name to the Cross Cancer Institute (https://albertacancer.ca/donate/) are greatly appreciated.
