Michael Stanley Wyeth, born on June 8th, 1933, passed away on July 28th, 2026, lovingly surrounded by his daughters, Charlotte and Vicky, as well as his grandchildren, Tristan, Arianne, Asher, and his longtime caregiver, Yvonne.
Michael was born in Manchester, UK. After marrying his true love, Anne, they immigrated to Canada and eventually settled in Leduc, AB in 1974. He worked as a manager of the clothing store, Marks and Spencer’s, then in the Department of Ophthalmology at the U of A, and finally retired from Sperry-Sun/Halliburton as their Health and Safety Officer, the role he enjoyed the most. Shortly after he arrived in Leduc, Michael became an active member of St. Michael’s parish, where he volunteered his time in a variety of ministries and committees. He was also part of the committee that initiated the Catholic school system in Leduc. Michael then served on the Catholic school board for the next 30 years, with many of those years spent as chairman. One of the schools created the Michael Wyeth Award, which recognises the qualities of leadership, kindness, cooperation and acceptance. These were just some of the qualities that he was best known for. Michael spent much of his retirement looking after others and made many friends, young and old, along the way.
He is survived by his daughters Charlotte and Vicky; and grandchildren: Stephen, Sian, Teasagh, Jeffery, Rebecca, Tristan, Arianne, Wyeth, Asher and Elianna.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Winnifred; brother John; wife Anne; daughter Sally-Ann and grandson Christian.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in St. Michael Catholic Church, 5105 45a St, Leduc, AB
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Michael’s name to the Chalice organization, or St. Michael's Planning for Tomorrow fund are deeply appreciated
