Born in Dauphin, Manitoba, Orest spent 35 years working as a miner in northern Manitoba and Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, where he and his family made their home. After his three sons moved away, Orest and his wife, Patricia, eventually moved to Lacombe, Alberta, before settling in Thorsby, where they lived for the past 12 years.
Orest was happiest working with his hands, especially in his garage, surrounded by his tools. He had a natural gift for fixing things and was always willing to lend a hand or offer his sons advice on home repairs. In quieter moments, he enjoyed reading and listening to country music in his garage. He also loved fishing and, above all, spending time with his family.
Orest will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia; and his sons: Quentin (Simone), Scot, and Jeffrey (Tracy). He was a proud grandfather to Rowan and Colton, with whom he cherished annual summer camping trips and the special memories they created together.
Orest is also survived by his brother, Fred (Kathy), as well as numerous extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Vera, Alec, John, Mary, Ann, Mike, and Morris.
A Celebration of Orest’s Life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 7, 2026, in the Thorsby Seniors Centre, 4812 51 Street, Thorsby, Alberta.
Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed.
