With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ronald Wayne Enns, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on July 22, 1953, Ron lived his 72 years filled with laughter, surrounded by love, and guided by purpose.
Ron’s early years were spent on the Old Farm, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for hard work, family, and the simple joys of rural living. In 1968, his family built and moved to a new farmyard on their land. He graduated from Medicine Hat High School in 1971, completing Matriculation and two years of electronics through the school’s vocational programs. Ron then pursued his passion for technology at SAIT, graduating with honors in Electronic Engineering Technology in 1974.
Ron began his career with Westech Industrial, where he honed his skills and built lasting relationships with clients and coworkers. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found Benchmark Instrumentation, a successful business he later sold, though he continued to consult for many years—driven by his love for the work and the people.
Ron’s love for sports was lifelong. As a young boy, he played football, baseball, and skated with his family on the farm. Later, he coached his daughters’ baseball teams, leading them to a league championship. He found joy in sailing, golf, pickleball, kayaking, and biking, but hockey remained his greatest passion. He played with the Falcons starting in 2002 and spent his final moments with his cherished teammates from the Edmonton Vintage. He loved every moment in Dressing Room #4.
A man of many talents, Ron had a deep love for vintage automobiles. Through his restoration company, Collectible Automobile Restoration Services, he brought classic cars back to life with meticulous care. His dedication and craftsmanship earned him numerous accolades. His proudest moment came in 2003 when his restored 1941 Chevrolet truck won 1st place, a testament to his craftsmanship and devotion (even if for this particular truck, that meant writing a cheque!).
Ron shared 39 beautiful years with his wife Lee Ann, living in Sherwood Park and later in Leduc, where they found a warm and welcoming community. His love for his family was unwavering, and in return he was their everything. Their rock—always supportive, kind, and full of humor. His smile lit up every room, often accompanied by his signature greeting - “Hey, it’s me ... is that you?”
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Lee Ann; daughters, Jenine (Mark) McInnis and Korin (James) Fisher; and stepson, Christopher Murphy. He was a proud grandfather to Tyler (Paige) McInnis, Cortney (Lane) Cartier, Ethan Fisher, and Jaxon Fisher, and a cherished great-grandfather to Braelyn McInnis and Brodie Babiy. He is also survived by his sister, Pat Enns; brother, Jim Enns; and brother-in-law, Frank Hvidsten.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ken and Lois Enns, and siblings, Linda Hvidsten and Kathleen McSweeny.
Ron’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at the Leduc Golf & Country Club on January 11, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Please visit Ron’s obituary page on the Hainstock & Son Funeral Chapel Leduc website closer to the service date for access to the livestream link.
