OBITUARY

Tony Vanderlee

23 June, 195118 July, 2021

Tony was the fourth of five sons born to Teunis and Renske Vanderlee; the first born in Canada after they emigrated from Zeist, Holland in 1950. His childhood was spent in Edmonton and area, Peers, and then the family dairy farm SE of Leduc. He enjoyed farming, 4H, and sports.

He met Ann in 1967 and they married in 1970. They had a son, Roger, and a daughter, Susan. After living in Leduc, Sexsmith, and Stettler, they settled on their own farm SW of Leduc.

Tony excelled at sales and was a territory manager for various farm equipment dealerships. He also joined his brothers and friends long-haul trucking, finishing his career as a freight broker.

Throughout his life, Tony was very athletic and loved to play baseball. He also coached hockey for many years. His favorite teams were the Oilers and the Blue Jays. He was very intelligent, had an amazing memory, and could fix anything. He especially enjoyed family vacations, board games, cards, and helping the granddaughters with their 4H animals.

Tony felt very lucky to have a close family and many friends to enrich his life. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; a good friend and neighbor; and a hard worker. Tony and the family wanted to thank Pastor Norm, Dr. Simard, and the caring team of Unit 22 at the Leduc Community Hospital.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ann; son Roger (Michelle) and his children Cassie, Damon, and Sadie; and his daughter Susan and her children Alexandria (Kimball) and Serene.

He was predeceased by his parents (Teunis and Renske Vanderlee), parents-in-law (Walter and Viola Machel), and all four brothers (Bill, Prosper, Frank, and Ron). He was diagnosed with cancer several years ago and left us peacefully to join those in heaven.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Leduc Alliance Church (5503 Black Gold Drive) on Monday, July 26th at 10:00 am, with lunch to follow. Interment will be at the Wiesenthal Baptist Cemetery (48420 Range Road 252).

If desired, donations may be made to the Leduc Community Hospital Foundation in memory of Tony.

To Ann and family,

Having known Tony and all his brothers since he and I were both in our 20s, there are a ton of great memories. I wish we could have been there in person, but our thoughts certainly are.

Hugs from Australia.

Deepest condolences to the entire Vanderlee Family,
I was so sorry to hear of Tony's passing today. He was a great guy who always had a joke and a laugh to share when we met, usually at an arena or ballpark. Tony was always supporting the brothers Vanderlee (Andy, Jimmy and Rob) in whatever they were involved in, so I got to know Tony quite well. He was always at the ready to help out whether it was driving the team bus, selling advertising for the team program or being a team executor. He was not afraid to jump in and help. I am so sorry for your loss, but I am so lucky to have known such a great man. Best regards, Scott McLeod and Family
