
He is preceded in death by his mother, Georgiana Walker; father, George Walker; sisters, Evelyn Armstrong, Minnie Lee Isbell, Cleo McGuire, and Billie Dement.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila; son, Byron (Anita); step-sons, Keith Dowling (Wendy) and Derek Dowling; grandchildren, Alex Walker, Emily Loggins (Daniel), Jade Dowling, and Truman Dowling; sister, Judi Hardin (Chuck); brothers, Drennen Walker (Patsy), Tommy Walker (Anita), George Walker (Ann); and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was a member of Leeds First Baptist Church. He served in the Marines and received a Purple Heart during the Korean War. He retired from LeHigh Portland Cement Company after 39 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved traveling as well as visiting with family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. He has been a resident of the Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home in Pell City for the past five years. The family would like to thank the staff, CNAs, nurses, security, and Dr. Simon for the loving care provided.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 21, 2018 from 8:30AM to 9AM at Kilgroe Funeral Home Leeds Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 9AM. A graveside at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL will be conducted at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Leeds First Baptist Church.
