I was so sorry to hear that Mr. Howard "Big Bern" to us kids had passed. He was the Rock and I know he will be missed greatly. I hope you can find comfort in knowing that "Big Bern" is watching over us. 
My deepest condolences,

Mr Bernie was a sweet, sweet man. I missed him so much when he retired he could make a bad day good. Prayers to his family. He will be missed by all that knew him. Heaven has a special new resident !!! The world need more people like Mr Bernie ! I worked with him at Compass Bank.

Bernie will be greatly missed by all as one of the most genuine and caring people you could ever be blessed to have known. He was truly a man who never met anyone he didn't like and no one ever met Bernie and not like him immediately.  I am very glad to have known such a good man. May God bless and keep Bernie and bless all of his family and guide you through this difficult time.

I met Bernie when I started working at Compass Bank years ago. Bernie was one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever met.  He always took care of everyone he knew and had a heart of gold.   He will be missed, God bless the Howard family.

If you are lucky enough in your life you will meet someone like Bernie Howard.  He touched the life of everyone he met because of his genuine kindness and love for all people.  I was lucky enough to work with Bernie and in the short time we lived in Birmingham he took care of me and my family in many ways, as he did so many others.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, he talked about you all often and with the greatest love.  He will be missed by all who had the honor to meet him.

To the Howard family my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. I am an employee of Compass Bank in Human Resources and would assist Bernie with payroll. He was always a kind person to assist. He is in heaven and smiling at everyone.
