

Ed, a broadcast engineer, retired from WVTM Channel 13 after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII, Pacific and the US Navy.
E. J. was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Edna Louise Strickland Pierce, his brothers, Raspus Pierce (Viola), Ervin Pierce (Letha), Urban Pierce (Bernice) of Maple Hill, NC, Ventis Pierce (Lucy), of Cedartown, GA, sister, Mattie Pierce of Kansas City, MO, brother-in-laws, N. S. Strickland (Vondale) of Phoenix, AZ, Neely Strickland (Lula) of Cedartown, GA. He is survived by his sisters Marenda Pierce of Kansas City, MO, Alice Best (Fred) of Greenville, NC and brothers, June Miles Pierce (Eunice), Archie Pierce (Elma), and Edward Pierce (Brenda) all of Maple Hill, NC area, and brother-in-law Robert Van Strickland (Betty) of Centre, AL. Survivors: children, Edward M. Pierce (Rosemary), Janice Pierce Quick (Jimmy), Anita Pierce Scroggins (George), grand-children: Wayne Quick (Lynn), Ashley Pierce Latham (Jeff), Tiffany Quick Hyche (Phillip), Wesley M. Pierce (Sarah), April Scroggins, Christy Scroggins and Aaron Scroggins. Great grandchildren: Pierce Quick, Mary Katelyn Latham, Luke Hyche, Riley Quick, Aidan Latham, Anna Pierce and Noah Pierce.
Family was important to Dad. He loved his family and particularly the yearly family reunions in Maple Hill, NC with brothers, sisters and the many nieces and nephews.
“But as it is written, The eye hath not seen, nor the ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things that God hath prepared for them that love him.” I Cor 2:9
He loved the Lord and was truly blessed.
Visitation will be held at Kilgroe Funeral Home from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 20, 2011.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with interment at Forest Crest Cemetery.
