

Lt. Colonel (US Army Ret.) EuLynne “Lynne” Harrison, 72, passed away on October 16th, 2024, from a brief illness. Born on April 24, 1952, to Alton Colquitt Harrison, Jr. and Doris Ethridge Harrison, Lynne grew up as a child of a military family and traveled the world extensively before settling in Alabama. She graduated from Hewett Trussville High School in 1970. She completed her BS in Nursing from UAB in 1990. In 1991 she joined the US Army to allow her and her children the opportunity to travel and live in places like Germany, Colorado, and Hawaii. She continued her education and became a nurse practitioner specialized in midwifery. She delivered many babies in her career, including some of her own grandchildren. She retired in 2011 and returned to Alabama to spend her retirement with her family, whom she adored and loved very much.
Lynne was very devoted to her family. She was a dedicated mother to her children, Amber, Kirk, and Russ, always reminding them to call if they ever needed anything, because she would always be there for them. One of her proudest moments was becoming a grandmother to her seven grandsons. She enjoyed telling anyone she knew about her children, grandchildren and their accomplishments. She is survived by her mother, Doris Harrison, children: Amber Mills (Jon), Kirk Collins (Jonathan), and Russ Collins; grandsons: Micah Collins, Ethan Mills, Ryan Mills, Isaiah Thomas-Smith, James Collins, Waylon Collins and G. Killian Collins and sisters: Polly Haley and Melanie Harrison.
A visitation will be held on Sunday October 20, 2024 from 2PM-4PM at Kilgroe Funeral Home - Leeds. A family memorial service will be held at Alabama National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations came be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or Kitty Kat Haven and Rescue .
