Evelyn Corinne Jackson - beloved Wife, Mother, and Nana - passed away on December 11, 2016. She is survived by her two sons Paul and Doug Jackson and their families (a daughter-in-law, 3 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, and 5 great-grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild). Evelyn was proceeded in death by her husband of 42 years Paul O. Jackson, their infant son Phillip and her siblings – brothers Mac and Phillip, and sisters Barbara, Virginia, and Rosemary.
Born to Howard and Florence Bennett on October 18, 1921 Mom grew up in Michigan. Evelyn was known for her love of children and baking. She loved the innocence of life and had a fierce mothering instinct which she not only applied to her own family but also working in the church nursery, helping mold hundreds of young lives at an early age. She always went above and beyond for her grandchildren even creating a beach with garden sand in the middle of the front yard to make them happy.
Whenever you needed a shoulder to cry on or a slice of banana nut bread Nana was there. She was a kind and loyal friend, wife, mother and grandmother to all who knew her and she will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church Leeds at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Mom loved her church and little children, and asked that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her honor to the First Baptist Church Leeds Children’s Ministry or St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
