

James Robert Freeman, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Hazel Freeman, and sister, Elease Carlisle. Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Freeman; daughter, Donna (John) Musgrove; son, David Freeman; grandchildren, Corrie (Garrett) Stephens; Clint (Morgan) Musgrove; Spencer Freeman; great grandchild, Norah Stephens.
He was a devoted husband and father, and a very proud grandfather and great-grandfather. His family was his pride and joy.
He was such a kind-hearted, simple man. He was a very funny, witty man who ALWAYS said what was on his mind. He loved people and never met a stranger. He had a soft spot for babies and elderly people. He enjoyed his hobbies and had many creative ones throughout the years, his most favorite ones being making fishing lures and collecting vintage and unique lures.
There is no place that he would rather be than at home with his wife and dogs.
His absence will be deeply missed by all who loved him. To know him was to love him.
On Monday March 24 a Rosary service will be held at 9:30 AM at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, 8101 3rd Ave, Leeds, AL 35094. The family will receive visitors at the Church from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, and burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
