

Roland White, “Ro,” age 89 of Odenville, Alabama passed away on January 31, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. Roland was born on April 28, 1935, to Lloyd and Bonnie White. Roland was employed by Barber’s Ice Cream for over thirty years. He was a United States Veteran, having served in the Navy from 1953 to 1955. While in the Navy he was a cook, often being asked by the Captain of the USS Taussig to make his famous oyster stew. Roland loved his family, Alabama football, NASCAR, (especially the Alabama Gang), milk chocolate candy, Pecan Sandies and Nutter Butter cookies. Roland is preceded in death by his son Brian, his parents, Lloyd and Bonnie, and his brothers, Robert and Clinton. Left behind to cherish Roland’s memories are his wife Judy, his daughters Pam (Ronnie) and Wendy (Randy); grandchildren: Jennifer (Ben), Christi, Meghan, Jeremy (Chelsea) and Sarah (Sean), great-grandchildren: Bailey (Cam), Madi, Haidyn, Bella, Olivia, Grady, Hendrix, Brooks, Willow, and Jensen, brother Kelly (Jackie), several nieces and nephews, and caregivers Ginger and Gina. Roland’s family wishes to thank the eighth floor nursing staff at Grandview Medical Center and the Woodland nursing staff at the Village of Cook Springs for the love and care he received while under their care. There will be a memorial service for Roland on Saturday, February 15th at 2:00 pm. at Branchville Church. Officiating will be John and Betty Arnold. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be sent in loving memory of Roland to PD Fight Club at Juarez Boxing. This local program enables people with Parkinson’s Disease to battle their disease by providing non-contact boxing fitness. The classes include an exercise program that attacks Parkinson’s at its vulnerable neuro-logical points while focusing on overall fitness, strength training, reaction time and balance.
