

"Chuck"
December 13, 1921 to October 5, 2015
Chuck was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin and then the family finally settled I Iowa He was one of eight children. He is survived by two brothers, John and Robert and two sisters, Mabel and Florence. Through his marriage to Vergie he left a step-daughter, Bonnie Christians two Grandchildren, Sean Golden and Kelly Cutlip and four Great Grandchildren, Kaylee Golden, Jake Golden, Jessica Sewell and Jordan Golden.
He joined the Army August 18, 1944, he was assigned to the famous 42nd Rainbow Infantry Division World War II. He servvied in France, Germany and was there for the end of the War May8th 1945 in Austria. he received the following medals:
European African Middle Easter Campaign Medal
Army of Occupational Medal
World War II victory Medal
Good Conduct Medal
While in the service he was promoted to Staff Sergeant which rarely happened in the midst of battle. Chuck was very proud of this contribution to the War and felt was one of his greatest accomplishments. He was also a Rainbow Division Veteran.
After the war he moved to Lemon Grove, Ca and purchased Magic Carpet in 1949 which became his life work. He had a very successful business. He helped many people by providing them work and was very generous and conscious of what people could afford and would always try to accommodate them.
While he was running his Business, he served the Community through the Lions Club and the Elks Club. He was a member for approximately 30 years.
He and Vergie were together for 40 years plus and she pre-deceased him on July 2,2009. They enjoyed traveling with their motorhome all over the country. Vergie was from Minnesota so they spent their summers there in a trailer on the Mississippi River. Traveling was their delight and they loved it.
Chuck was an avid Padre and Charger fan. He had Charger season tickets from the beginning at Balboa Stadium. Another one of his hobbies was attending the swap meet. He did this every weekend and always came home with "New Treasures"
He lived a long fulfilled and meaningful life. He was generous and would help anyone in need. At 93 he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. When Chuck went to be with the Lord, he blessed him with a peaceful passing and having the knowledge he was going to Heaven. ''IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!
