Ellen Claire Maloney, age 73 passed away on Friday July 19, 2019 in San Diego, California. Ellen was born January 12, 1946 in Buffalo, New York to Norma Ann Gooley and Eugene Michael Gooley and was married to John Maloney for 32 years.
Ellen was a teacher for 32 years and brought excitement to learning; she truly changed people's lives. She taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grand special education in Encanto School as well as regular 5th and 6th grade. She also taught 5th and 6th grade in Zamorano Elementary School. She loved changing the decorations in her classroom 6 times a year and her husband John helped her to create special space for the children with whatever the theme they were studying. He built a pagoda along with a bridge of knowledge that the children crossed over every day into the classroom; and built a hut from sticks and animal skins that the children could go into and have a special space for reading. These are just a couple of things he did to help Ellen create a wonderful teaching space. Ellen also enjoyed the outdoors and camping, as well as cooking gourmet food with her son.
Ellen is survived by her husband John; son Matt Lennert; and son Patrick Johnson; sister Kathleen Miller-Romo.
Ellen was preceded in death by; daughter Elizabeth Vaughters; mother Norma Ann Gooley and father Eugene Michael Gooley.
