December 31, 1935 – April 2, 2015
Not inclined to wait for the New Year, Evelyn Mae Elizabeth Stangl was born 3 months early at her grandparents’ home on December 31, 1935 in Bartlett, North Dakota. Those of us who are lucky enough to know her should not be surprised that she hurried into the world to get a little more time to care for those she loved.
She spent her whole life helping others, caring about them and their families. She was one of those people who would take you in and make you “family”, and ask for nothing but your friendship in return.
She spent more than half of her life working in various medical labs and offices, and the other half working for God and his church.
She was a Eucharistic Minister, a Religious Education Teacher, a Senior “Wise Ones” Facilitator and a “Little Church” Gramma. Even when her health put her in a long term care facility for 3 years, she got permission from the local Catholic Church to start a Eucharistic Minister Visitation Program at her facility, where she became President of the Patient Council. It’s probably good that God sent her so much “work” to do through her life; it kept her from taking over the world.
Preceded in death by her parents Thomas P. Stangl and Wilma B. Stangl and her brother Thomas J. Stangl (Marilyn), she is survived by her brothers Jack Stangl (Karen), Mark Stangl (Annette), sister Dawn Dose (Kurt), her 3 children Jaculin “LIN” Taylor, Carl Taylor and Timm Taylor (Diane) and her greatest joy…her 4 grandchildren, Thomas Taylor, Troy Taylor, Dakota Taylor and Elena Taylor.
Finally, when her work was done, she was celebrated back home on April 2, 2015.
Services for Evie will be held on April 28th at 11:00am at Saint John of the Cross Catholic Church, 8086 Broadway in Lemon Grove, California, 91945.
