It is almost a year now since your passing Joanie, and time is suppose to heal, sometimes it does and sometimes it does not, but we hope that your family, Doug, Devin, your father, and your sisters are starting to feel at peace now, knowing that you are watching over them.  We know your have your wings now and it is time to go further towards the light but still keep a watch on your loved ones.  Everyone that you touched you left a part of you with them with your love and laughter and you will always be with each and everyone of them.  It is hard to say goodbye, but be assured it is a short goodbye because we will all see you once again.  We can all say we were proud to have you as our friend.  We are not going to say, "rest in peace" because we all know you are not resting but riding a beautiful horse somewhere, with your mother watching and your dogs by your side.  THANK YOU JOANIE FOR BEING SUCH A DEVOTED AND LOVING FRIEND and until we see you again, you will be missed beloved friend.

I just learned today of Joan's passing and I am just so sad. I met Joan about six years ago when she came into my store to ship some racing items for Doug. I knew instantly that she was a wonderful and amazing woman and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing and talking to her. The world is missing a very sweet, funny and smart angel who had the biggest heart and personality. I will truly miss her.

Joan was such a woderful boss, friend, mentor. Her smile and spirit brighten the world. You are missed greatly by all who love you. I will walk the Susan B Komen in honor of you from here on my friend.Doug and Devon as the days and weeks pass, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends, May God Bless and keep you my dear friends...

I just found out about this I am devastated I knew Joan since I was nine years old ....we were pregnant for our first time together she had Devin and I had Madison .... I am very sorry for her family I am at a loss for words she was like a sister to me for many years ...my horse trainer ..lived with us I wish somebody would have contacted me ...GOD BLESS.

I have had the honor and privilege of knowing Joan for the past four years.  She was a loving and fabulous mother.  She was always kind and gracious to everyone. Joan was brave and courageous throughout her illness and always found the strength to put Devin first.  She taught us how to live and she taught us how to die with dignity and grace.  I started walking the 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk in her honor and will continue to do so as long as I am able until there is a cure.  Her beautiful smile will be forever in my heart. Joan was a wonderful friend and I will miss her forever.  Her quick humor and wonderful smile lightened any room she walked into.  Everything that she touched became better than it was before.  Joan's standards were higher than most, and she almost always achieved what she set out to do.  She dearly loved her family, friends, and animals.  I am proud to have been her friend and I will remember her forever.

I met Joan back in 1990 when we worked together at Solar Turbines. I never met anyone who could tell a story like Joan!  She was my top favorite story teller!  She was courageous, fearless and fierce every day she was with us!  I'll miss you Joan...and I'll see you again some day!

I had the pleasure of knowing Joan and her family since her diagnosis. Every one of them has been in my thoughts during the past months. I am saddened today to hear of her passing. I will never forget her journey and her fight. I warmly recall how Devin gave her "Mr Fuzzy" and his "Lightning McQueen" blanket to accompany her to her treatment sessions. It made my heart melt. Joan embraced Devin's love and concern and treasured his gifts of comfort. She had such passion for her boy Devin and I want him to know that she will always be in his heart and he will see her reflection as he grows up and remembers how his mom influenced him and how much she loved him. Devin - your mom was your biggest fan. For Doug, I wish you comfort and time to heal. You were always at her side and it has been a difficult journey for you as well. May the celebration of Joan's life be a wonderful tribute to the person she was and the people's hearts that were touched while she was in their lives. With warm remembrance of Joan.

I met Joan for the first around ten years ago at a horse barn in Dehesa.After shaking hands with her,I new immediately she was a person I wanted to be friends with.As our neighbor she was always there to help out.Joan was a big bundle of sunshine,a very outgoing lady,what ever the day brought her,she always remained positive. A very strong and brave lady who loved life,her family,and friends.I consider myself fortunate to have been friends with Joan and will always remember her and hope to have the courage to carry on with the challanges of the day as she always did. Joan is a woman to be admired and loved. She brought in sunshine with her smiles. She will truly be missed.

Joan's sister, Lani, and I have been friends since our twenties.  I met Joan for the first time when she was about twelve years old. I remember being so very impressed by the countless ribbons, certificates, and trophies that Joan had won for being an accomplished equestrienne.  To honor Joan and to recognize her extraordinary love and knowledge of animals, I am lighting a candle for her, here on this site, and also, in my garden next to St. Francis, the patron saint of animals.  My heart and prayers go out to Joan and her beautiful family.

Joanie, as we knew her - a horse woman of exceptional talents, always coming out of the arena with a "First Place," or no lower than a Second Place.  A true lady, one that we loved so very much.  A lady that has gone through so very much in the last two years, and a lady that was strong in will.  Joanie sweetie, I will miss you so very much and our talks we had for hours.  I will miss seeing you on the back of a horse,  You have a beautiful son that will carry on for you, and a husband, Doug, that cared for your deeply; he will keep your memory alive for Devin. Our condolences to the family and you are all in our prayers.  Joanie, you now have your wings, so fly over and watch each and every one of us - be our guardian angel.
