Karl William Smith

Karl William Smith was born to Lester Dale and Francis Marie Smith on May 15, 1941 in Mansfield, Ohio. He graduated from Galion Senior High School in 1959 and then joined the U.S. Navy. He was a Chief in the Navy and retired in 1981 after 22 years of service. The Navy brought him to San Diego, CA where he met and married Sunnie Henderson. He has two daughters Traci, married to Dave Smith of Spring Valley, CA and Kristi, married to Tom Buongervino of Thousand Oaks, CA. He has three grandchildren Jared Smith, Tab and Alec Buongervino. His father and mother are deceased as well as his oldest sister Gerri Rheinbolt. He is survived by his younger sister Mildred Gaul of Galion, Ohio. He has three surviving nephews Les Hanlon, David and Dan Gaul and Dean Gaul deceased. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Ronald Rheinbolt also from Ohio. He always loved watching his favorite college football and basketball teams, the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was also a NASCAR racing fan with his favorite drivers being Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson. He also played darts in a league and won several dart championships.
