

Rolande Josette Beaulieu, the youngest of six children was born on February 28, 1930 in Van Buren, Maine to Joseph and Celina Beaulieu. As a young women she became an excellent dancer while going to hall dances and helping out her sister Bernadine in her catering business. After high school graduation she attended Simand’s Floral Design School and began her career as a florist at Dube’s Flower shop in Lewiston, Maine.
At the age of twenty three she married Earle Maynard Thompson at Leo and Odette’s camp on Tripp Lake. On June 25, 1935 she gave birth to her daughter Earline. Soon after they moved to San Diego, California along with her mother and brother Fernand (Pete). On October 29, 1957 she gave birth to her son Daniel. She was a loving and dedicated mother and wife.
With four of their siblings and their growing families also living in San Diego there were many wonderful family gatherings from, camping trips in the Laguna Mountains, Easter celebrations at El Monte Park and trips to Lincoln City, Oregon to do beachcombing for agates along its beautiful coast.
Once her children were raised she returned to work as a Floral Designer. Her passion was designing beautiful arrangements with both fresh and artificial flowers. She loved roses and carnations.
She was a devoted Catholic, and very involved with the Pentecostal group at St. John of the Cross along with her sisters Fern, Odette and brothers-in-law Leo and George.
Her commitment to family was one of her greatest strength; she was always helping out whenever it was needed. For fifty years she was the primary caregiver for her mother until she passed away at the age of one hundred. She then took care of her brother until he passed away. She always took the time to listen, and never had any negative words for anyone. Her love was unconditional.
Rolande is survived by her daughter Earline Collis; son Daniel Thompson; sister Bernadine Fontaine; 3 grandchildren.
A Vigil Service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 - 6 p.m. at Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, April 5, 2013 - 10 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church (8086 Broadway - Lemon Grove, CA 91945).
Blessed are those who have died in the Lord; let them rest from their labors for their good deeds go with them.
Eternal rest grant unto Rolande, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
May her soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, Rest in Peace. Amen.
