Billy Joe Thompson Sr., age 83 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Billy was born Wednesday October 26, 1938 to the late Charles and Almeada Bennett Thompson in Raleigh County, West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Billy “Joey” Thompson Jr, two sisters Gertrude Nelson, Lucille Myrick, a brother, Grover Thompson and his brother in law James Cochran.
Mr. Thompson worked for Yale as a Line Supervisor engineering and manufacturing forklifts.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 62 years Carolyn Cochran Thompson of the home, daughters Cindy Penley (Bobby) of Lenoir and Sharon Blankenship (Teryl) of Cornelius. Sister Shirley Sneed (Howard), and sister in –law Virginia Spears. In addition he is survived by 7 grandkids, 11 great grandkids, 6 great-great grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Thompson family will receive friends from 6:00pm till 8:00pm, Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Pendry’s Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Billy will be held 10:00am, Monday, April 25, 2022 in the Pendry’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Steve Parker will officiate.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens 1545 Orchard Dr., Lenoir, NC 28645
