Bobby Jack Gilbert

Mr. Gilbert was born in Burke County on July 28, 1934 to the late James Coffey and Bertha Lou Hatton Gilbert. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Rastus, James, and Jim Gilbert; and two sisters, Bertie Laws and Stella Hamby.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Edith “Mae” Nichols Gilbert of the home; two sons, Robert D. Gilbert and wife, Pam and Richard L. Gilbert and wife, Mary, all of Lenoir, NC; one daughter, Judy Gilbert McKee and husband, David of Forest City, NC; eight grandchildren, Robert Gilbert, Jr. of Lenoir, NC, Kristy Kirkland of Texas, Suzanne Gilbert, Michelle Gilbert, and Natasha Gilbert, all of Lenoir, NC, Spencer McGuire and Gabe McKee, both of Forest City, NC, and Richard Gilbert II of Marion, NC; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Gilbert will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 2:30 pm at Confidence Advent Christian Church with the Reverend Norm Sherwood officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at the church cemetery.
