Bynum Howard Pennell, 88 of Lenoir went home to be with his Heavenly Father on April 2, 2018 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Pennell was born on November 6, 1929 to the late Rev. Howard Pennell and Callie Robinson Pennell. Mr. Pennell was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was dedicated to his family and truly loved the time he spent with them. He enjoyed outdoors, and loved spending time shooting rifles with his grandsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Mae Shoemaker Pennell. A daughter, Shirley P. Bowman, siblings, Council Pennell, Bill Pennell, Juanita Baldwin, Edna Reavis, Earl Pennell and Jenny Pennell. Those left to cherish his memory include his children; Brenda Angley and husband Doug, Randy Pennell and wife Cynthia, Dee Dee Small and husband Doug, Christine Clark and husband Jimmy, Donna Hinson and husband Ricky, Howard Pennell, brother, Charles "Chick" Pennell, sisters, Martha Hayes and Betty Church. Also left to cherish his memory are eighteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held to honor Mr. Pennell on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Steve Parker and Rev. Brian Smith Officiating. Burial will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be son, Howard Pennell, Shane Pennell, Ronald Pennell, Gary Pennell, Elijah Small, Randy Pennell Jr., Nick Small, and Brien Laws. Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Baldwin, Terry Pennell, Scott Angley, Masyn Mungro, Dayton Helton, Scott Shook and April Greer.
