Dennis Franklin Ray, 67, of Granite Falls, NC passed away in Asheville, NC on May 28, 2015.
He was born to the late Clarence and Ilene Ray on August 7, 1947. He served as a Tank Commander in the United States Army for 3 years. He was employed by Bernhardt Furniture for 24 years. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, friend, uncle and brother.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gary Ray.
Those left to cherish his memory are his lovely wife of 38 years, Jean Ray of the home; daughters, Kimberly Ray of the home, Annette Ray of Hudson, Jeannette Anthony of Conover, Tammy Ray of Dudley Shoals; sister, Carol Cable and husband Bill of Lenoir; brother, Ronnie Ray and wife Linda of Franklinville; many nephews, nieces, and other family members.
Dennis loved his family with all his heart and had a special bond with his dog Noah. He loved going out to eat with his wife Jean, taking 2 mile walks with his daughter Kimberly, who is autistic and just sitting in his favorite chair watching the latest American Idol episode with his dog Noah.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 31st, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home. The service will be Monday, June 1st, at 11:00 AM at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Kevin Anthony officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Granite Falls. Military Honors will be provided by the United States National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers include Robbie Parsons, Joe Holden, Eddie Holden, Mike Macchia, Wesley Sluder, and Michael Holden. Honorary pallbearers include Marvin Holden, Mark Macchia and Morris Macchia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to “SOCC- Special Olympics of Caldwell County”, 3743 Williams Place, Granite Falls, NC 28630.
