Mrs. Swanson was born in Wilkes County on March 19, 1930 to the late Harrison Soots and Lessie Cheek Soots.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence I. Swanson, brothers; John Harrison Soots Jr, R.C. Soots, William Soots and a sister, Sue Soots.
Mae was a wonderful cook and homemaker who retired from Broyhill Furniture Industries after many years of dedicated service. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family and the Lord with all her heart. She was a member of Heritage Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Linda Davidson and husband Frank, sons; George Lynn Swanson and wife Evelyn, Wayne Swanson and wife Kay, brothers; Odell Soots, Bobby Soots, her seven grandchildren; Pam Ingle and husband Derrick, Jennifer Swanson, Terrie Marley and husband Chad, Chad Swanson and wife Sandra, Josh Davidson and wife Dixie, Amanda Marley and husband Kevin, and Lee Swanson and wife Tara.
Also left to cherish her memory are her fourteen great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service to honor Mrs. Swanson will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 2:30 pm in the chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Hensley and Rev. Jordan Swink officiating. The family will receive friends for an hour and a half prior to the service, from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
Burial will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Davidson, Derrick Ingle, Brett Ingle, Chad Marley,Kevin Marley and Lee Swanson.
