

Floyd E. “Butch” Curtis, born August 5, 1942 in Richmond, VA went to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital after a short stay due to respiratory complications. A longtime resident of the Smokey Creek community, Floyd spent more than 50 years working in the furniture industry and enjoyed his last years with his beloved dogs, Hershey and Snickers. Mr. Curtis was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Curtis, a daughter, Susan Curtis and nephews, Greg Townsend and Andy Curtis.
Survivors include his sisters, Ms. Ada Curtis, of Lenoir, and Mrs. Linda Bugielski and husband Lawrence of Lenoir; one brother, Jack Curtis and wife Barbara of Greensboro, NC; nephew, Jason Bugielski and wife Karen along with their children, Hunter, Logan, and Makayla of Lenoir. Neice, Teresa Curtis Fudge and husband Steve along with their children, Travis and Catherine of Fuqay-Varina, NC, niece, Donna Curtis, wife of Andy Curtis, deceased, along with their children Hunter and Kasey of Climax, NC. Also left to cherish his memory were his special friends, Mr. Conley and Mrs. Karen Coffey of Lenoir.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in Pendry’s Chapel at 11 A.M with Reverend Raymond Spann officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Receiving of friends will be an hour prior to the service.
