

Mrs. Hendrix was born in Watauga County, to the late Archie Mode and Bonnie Dotson Mode. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Winford Mode and Clarence Hicks, and sisters, Betty Greer and Georgia Lenher. She was a retired telephone operator and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church for over 55 years where she was a member of the WELCA Ladies Group.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Hendrix of the home; two sons, Charles Hendrix and wife Ebbie of Blowing Rock, Dennis Hendrix and wife Vicki of Mooresville; one daughter, Jackie Steele and husband Brian of Sawmills; a brother, Larry Hicks of Sugar Grove; two sisters, Dean Church and husband Marion of Williamsburg, Virginia and Margie Phillips and husband Johnny of Deep Gap; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Hudson with Reverend Marcus Ollis officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 prior to the service at the church.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 352 Central Street, Hudson, NC 28638.
