

She was born on June 3, 1934 in Watauga County to the late Vilas Brown and Blanche Oakes. In her free time Mrs. Howell loved to read, sew, and garden. She thoroughly enjoyed music and participating in the Christmas program at church. Mrs. Howell especially loved her precious sunshines.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Sherrill Howell Sr.; brother, Harold Brown; and sister, Linda Gilbert.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Wade Howell Jr. and wife Susan, and Rev. Douglas Howell and wife Rhonda, all of Lenoir; daughters, Kathy Hendrick and husband Andy, Ruby Jeanne Triplett and husband Terry, Kay Hochschild and husband Mack, and Patsy Gentry and husband Doug, all of Lenoir; brother, Dennis Brown of Lenoir; sisters, Mary Francis Brown of Kannapolis, Edith Cope and husband Vernon of Belmont, and Margaret Jones and husband Tom of Florida; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Heavenly Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Benny Greene and Rev. David Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the church. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
Active Pallbearers will be Scott Brown, Rev. David Brown, Chris Brown, Avery Gentry, Nicholas Howell, and Casey Gentry, plus Honorary Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial be made to Heavenly Hope Baptist Church, 509 Ronquil Park Pl SW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
