Mary Elizabeth Watson Estes

Mary Elizabeth Watson Estes, 88, of Lenoir passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Caldwell County, NC on January 28, 1929 to the late Clarence Watson and Gladys Cozart Watson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Henry Estes, a son, Richard Estes, daughter, Mary Elizabeth Estes, great grandson, Dalton, two brothers, Richard and Wallace Watson, sisters, Miladeen Shoemake, Alene Walker and Arlene Cikanek.

Mrs. Estes was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed singing in the church choir, sewing, crocheting and raising her children.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, James William Estes and wife Billie of Lenoir, Wayne Garner Estes and wife Alesa of Hudson, William David Estes and wife Kama of Lenoir, daughters, Debra Jean Grethen of Granite Falls, Nancy Estes Cardwell and husband Robin of Hudson, Sharon Estes Chester and Dwight Wise of Granite Falls, Valerie Estes Triplett of Lenoir, brothers, Edward Watson of Lenoir, Barry Watson of Mtn. City, TN, sisters, Betty Canter of Maiden, Reba Watson of Lenoir and Lana Roland of Granite Falls.

Also left to cherish her memory are seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces’ nephews and other extended family members.

A funeral service to honor Mrs. Estes will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 in the chapel at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Funeral home.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.

Serving as pallbearers will be James Estes, Ethan Estes, Joshua Triplett, Brandon Triplett, Scott Triplett and Eugene Grethen.
