

Milfred “Wayne” Pinter, age 66, of Newland, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Friday, December 12, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 7, 1959, in Mississippi, to Benny Melvin Pinter and Ethel Loue Dickerson Pinter.
Wayne was a skilled coppersmith and craftsman who specialized in the restoration of historic churches. He took great pride in his work and had a lifelong appreciation for history, which he enjoyed sharing with others. Along with his wife, Jennifer, he owned and operated Linville River Mercantile & Bakery.
Wayne was a devoted husband; a loving father and grandfather; and a valued friend and neighbor. He was known for his strong character, steady work ethic, and the values he lived by—values that shaped his family and touched those who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Pinter; his children, Madison Collare, Johnathan Pinter, Jacob Pinter, and Josh Pinter; his grandchildren; his brother, Charles Pinter; and many extended family members and friends.
Wayne will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous spirit, and the love he shared with his family and community.
In accordance with Wayne’s wishes, a private family service will be held.
