She was born to Charlotte Hood and the late Joe Hood on July 8, 1960 in Caldwell County. Mrs. Smith attended Hood’s Chapel in Lenoir and was a veteran of the United States Army, once discharged serving in the Army Guard Reserve.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Smith.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her mother Charlotte Hood of Lenoir; sons, David Smith and wife Paula of Lenoir and Michael Smith of Charlotte; brothers, Clarence Hood and wife Mary of Columbia, South Carolina and Tony Hood and wife Sylaine of Charlotte; grandchildren, Tyona Smith, Iris Smith, Amiyah Smith, Michael Smith Jr., and Malcom Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Pam had a deep love for nature and animals. She had a distinctive voice plus she had a soft heart for her grandchildren, children, and nieces and nephews. She had a gracious, loving, and giving heart, was an excellent cook, and had a fondness for elephants as you could see upon entry to her home. Pam was one of a kind, couldn’t do anything but love her.
A receiving of friends will be held at Pendry’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 5, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The private funeral service will be at Pendry’s Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Philmore N. Hester and Pastor Jesse Banner officiating. Burial will follow at Hood’s Creek Cemetery with military honors performed by the North Carolina National Guard.
