Mrs. Watson was born in Caldwell County on May 27, 1927 to the late Jacob A. Summerow and Macidy Hamby Summerow. Mrs. Watson lived in the Gamewell Community since 1945. She was a homemaker for most of her life, but also worked at American Efird for many years. She was a long time member of East Flat Baptist Church until her health prevented her from going, but enjoyed reading her Bible at home. She enjoyed having visits from company and family dinners.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William Zack Watson; brothers, Johnnie, Jasper, and Brownie B. Summerow; sisters, Estelle Bridges and husband Julius, Ollie Gilbert, Pansy Smith and husband Lawrence; niece, Margaret Gilbert Saunders; nephews, Ronnie and Carol Summerow; and great-niece, April Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory include a great number of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews, going up to five generations.
A funeral service honoring the life of Mrs. Watson will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Pendry’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Mitchell and Allen Stilwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow at East Flat Baptist Church.
