Ruth Oliver Setzer

Ruth Oliver Setzer, 87, of Lenoir passed away May 30, 2013 at Carolina Rehab of Burke.

Mrs. Setzer was born September 9, 1925 to the late Thomas and Mae Oliver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Walter Setzer, a son, Clarence Douglas Setzer; her brothers, Rayford, Thomas (Spud), Haskel, Paul and Norris Oliver; her sisters, Thelma Oliver, Olphelia Oliver Baker, Angell Oliver Adkins, Ramona Oliver Icenhour and Christine Oliver Roper; nephews, Dan and Larry Oliver and a niece, Roxie Adkins Clark.

She was a homemaker and a member of Hartland Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sylvia Setzer Dunn and husband John, Janice Setzer and Deborah McCall Horne; a sister, Marceline Oliver Knight; grandchildren, Todd Setzer, Leanne Setzer Hall and husband Dwayne, Larry Richard Setzer, Jr., Hope Setzer Hughes and husband Marc, Sharon Dunn Grindstaff and husband Charles, David Michael Dunn, Scott McCall and wife Julia, Meredith Horne Bazemore and husband “J”, Cara McCall Foucht and husband Mike Medwedeff; also 12 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Reverend Todd Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The Setzer family would like to thank the many longtime friends, nurses, doctors, CNA’s and staff at Carolina Rehab of Burke and Lenoir Park. A special thanks to Carolina Rehab of Burke for making our beautiful Mother’s last days as comfortable as possible at Carolina Rehab of Burke and the way they showed her respect, honor and friendship during her stay there and to Tina Hartley at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative in Lenoir whose kindness and caring helped us make Mother’s last journey sweet and peaceful.
