LENOIR-Known to many as “Buck”, he was born Stanley Austin Osborne to the late Cleve Franklin Osborne and Nora Ella Greene Osborne on May 2, 1937 in Boone, NC. Buck passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 3rd at his home in Lenoir, NC at the age of 80.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 18 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, “Ann” Annabelle Jessee Osborne and one daughter, Vanessa McMillon and husband Larry. Also included are his 5 step-children, all from Virginia, Conley Kiser, (Sherri), Gilbert Kiser (Melissa), Kathleen Lester (Freddy), Ralph Kiser, Roger Kiser (Aimee), and many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step great- grandchildren.
He was a hardworking man, he cut timber and worked at a sawmill for many years until later on in life, he worked in the furniture factory up to retirement. He grew up very poor and mostly had to fend for himself at a very early age. As a little girl, I looked up to my Dad. He worked hard to provide for Mom and I and was generous. He loved us in his own special way and would probably fight a circul-saw to protect us.
There was a change that took place in my Dad, back in the 70’s. His life was re-arranged. He quit doing some of the bad things he was doing and started going to church. It wasn’t the “going to church” part, it was when he gave his heart and life to Jesus. Dad said Jesus was the one who changed his life around. My Dad was changed and he and Mom made sure I was taken to church. Through them living for the Lord, I also came to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
Dad would always find a chance to tell others they need Jesus. Every day, maybe 2 or 3 times, I would tell him “I love you Pop”. Always with the response, “Love You too.”
Today, he is with Jesus in Heaven with no more pain.
As I said my prayers the night of his death, I told Jesus to tell “Pop” I love Him.”
I love you Pop. I miss you down here, but I’ll see you again in Heaven.
Dad would love for me to ask all of you; If you were to die right now, do you know for sure you will go to Heaven?
Your loving daughter, Vanessa
