Wade Smith Norris

Mr. Norris was born in Watauga County to the late William Lee Norris and Effie Loretta Moretz Norris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 58 years, Trilla Crowder Norris, a daughter, Joyce Arnell Norris, and second wife Betty Hamby Norris.

He was retired from Broyhill Furniture Company and an active charter member of West Lenoir Baptist Church. Wade will be greatly missed, not only by his personal family, but by his church family and his Koinonia family, where he happily spent the last seven years of his life. He was blessed with a long, healthy life, a man with a strong Christian faith. His example of kindness and humility will be remembered by all who knew him.

Survivors include his children, Hilda N. Taylor and husband Ray Taylor of Lenoir, Loretta N. Chester and husband John Chester of Lenoir, Robert E. Norris and wife Patsy T. Norris of Conover, Dennis L. Norris and wife Pam C. Norris of Lenoir and E. Earl Owens and wife Sue Owens of Lenoir; grandchildren, Monica T. Hoover and husband Tommy of Lenoir, Michael Chester and wife Brandy of Banner Elk, Tracy N. Correll and husband Scott of Conover, Kelly C. Everhart and husband Buck of Lenoir, Renee Norris of Lenoir, Charles W. Norris and fiancé Amy Tadlock of Newton and Ashley N. Penley and husband Mike of Lenoir; thirteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild, and one sister, Hazel Moretz of Icard.

Services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at West Lenoir Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Safriet and Reverend James Lockey officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be his great grandsons.
