Mom was born on November 3, 1930 in Cardston, Alberta the sixth child of Matthew Leavitt and Ella Broadbent. She attended school in Leavitt and Cardston and made many lifelong friends. It was through these acquaintances where she met her sweetheart and best friend, Ardell. They were married June 22, 1948 in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Mom and Dad had an everlasting love for one another and it was evident in their daily life. Her life was one of service and caring for others--from cinnamon buns and donuts to the neighbors, to endless hours of sewing quilts for her family to loving and unselfishly caring for Dad. She was always willing to be of assistance and encouragement. She never missed calling on a birthday or anniversary. Spending time with her family brought her the most happiness and she enjoyed many parties with them.
Mom enjoyed preparing meals for many people including the residents of the Chinook Foundation and later the Grandview Nursing Home. Every meal was prepared with love. She also enjoyed her work at the Red Rooster and the people she associated with there.
