Mr. William Reed Blumel

Passed away peacefully in Lethbridge on Monday, May 17, 2004, WILLIAM REED “REEDER” BLUMEL, at the age of 62 years. Beloved husband of Irene Takacs (Ireñke) Blumel of Magrath.

He is the loving father and grandfather of: Jim (Dayna) Blumel – Jade and Mariah of Magrath; Karen (Jeff) Gibb – Zachary, Brooklynn, Sydney of Lethbridge; Cam (Jana) Blumel – Amy, Jonathan, Sara, Matthew of St. Albert; and Peter and Jane Norman of Langley, BC. He is also survived by his special mother, Della Blumel; brother and sisters: Claire (Jim) Larson, Dana (Peter) Norman, Shirley (Lawrence) Bobenic, Christy (Lloyd) Stewart, Bob (Julia) Blumel, and numerous family and friends.

He is predeceased by his father Billy, brother Karl, brother-in-law Steve Bogdan, father-in-law Jonas Takacs, and special Uncle Allan Holladay.

Reeder was born in Magrath on August 13, 1941. He married his sweetheart, Ireñke on August 8, 1964. Reeder spent all his life in Magrath. He worked at York Farms for 37 years until illness forced him into early retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, hunting, and fishing, especially with his family. In his last years he enjoyed making “Diamond Willow” walking sticks and “barn wood” picture frames in his shop, and special coffee visits with his friends, family, and special neighbours. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.

Friends may meet the family on Wednesday evening, May 19 at the Magrath Stake Centre from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or prior to the service on Thursday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Magrath Stake Centre, Magrath, with Bishop Glenn Fletcher officiating. Interment to follow in the Magrath Cemetery.
