

Gayla Beth Collier passed away in Lubbock, Texas December 9, 2014 at the age of 67. She was born Gayla Beth Ivey, July 14, 1947 in Levelland, Texas to T.J. Richard Ivey and Ethel Norene “Babe” Ivey. She grew up on the family farm north of Pettit, Texas. She attended Pettit Schools until her senior year of high school. She graduated from Levelland High School in 1965. After high school, she attended South Plains College where she met her husband, Darrell Collier. They were married in Friona, Texas on August 27, 1966. They lived in Friona and several other west Texas towns before finally settling in Loop, Texas. They were very active in the Loop community and with their children in school activities, sports and rodeo. They were members of the Loop Volunteer Fire Department. The couple moved to Levelland in the summer of 2013. Gayla was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Darrell, who passed away in January of this year. She is survived by her daughter, Beth White, and her son, Richard Collier and wife Monica. She is also survived by six grandchildren Caycee Collier and wife Jessica, Cody James, Kambri White, Brittany Miers, Gianna Collier, Aaric Williams and two great-grandchildren, Marlie Smith and Colton Collier, who will be born in February 2015. She will be missed by her family and friends, but she has left us with wonderful memories that will live on. A Memorial Service for Gayla will be held at 1PM on Saturday, December 20, 2014 in the George Price Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to service. Inurnment to follow at the City of Levelland Cemetery.
