Roy Thomas Phillips, 70, of Levelland, passed away on February 15, 2019. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 2pm at George Price Funeral Home, with Pastor Sammy Elliott officiating. Inurnment will follow at the City of Levelland Cemetery. Services are under the compassionate care of George Price Funeral Home.
Roy was born March 26, 1948 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Roy Edgar and Capatola Phillips. Roy worked in the oilfield, then owned his own roofing business until becoming an insurance adjuster with the catastrophe teams working hurricanes and floods all over the nation.
Before meeting Debbie, Roy won many trophies and awards roller skating as a duo and drag racing. He married Debbie on December 8, 1972 and had 4 precious girls.
Roy loved the Lord and joined First Baptist Church before his passing. He loved gospel music and belonged to a gospel group in his 20’s called “The Gospels” singing bass. He busted many speakers going so deep that women would scream.
He collected old radios and loved going to car shows with his grandchildren. If he was not at home watching Fox News, Roy could be found at Tattlers drinking coffee with his buddies or at Starbucks getting a vanilla bean frappuccino.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, daughters Heather Phillips and Alecia Olmeda, stepson Randall Layne Hopper, and grandson Randy Hopper.
Roy is survived by his wife, Debbie, daughters Jessica Phillips and Shannon Peterman, five grandchildren Adam Hopper, Jonathan Hopper, Kristina Long, Abigail Peterman, and Bryar Peterman, and numerous extended family.
