Agnes S. Karpa Agnes S. Karpa died on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Chandler Hall in Newtown. She was 78. Born in Coaldale, PA, the daughter of the late Gladys (Halkyard) and Patrick Gallagher, Mrs. Karpa has been a resident of Lower Bucks County since 1965. She was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish, Levittown. Mrs. Karpa achieved her nursing degree in 1957 from the Fitzgerald Mercy School of Nursing. She served her residency at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia and was employed at Statesman Nursing Home in Levittown for many years. Beloved wife of the late Zigmund A. Karpa, Sr., Mrs. Karpa is the loving mother of Joseph (Tammy) of Bristol, Zigmund A. Jr. (Mary) of Harleysville, Gladys Karpa (Adoree) of Columbus, OH, Nadine Drake of Levittown and Aaron Karpa (Bernadette) of Warrington, PA. She was the devoted grandmother of Amanda, Jessie, Shelby, Kaelea, Sydney and Hallie and the sister of Mary Taylor Halkyard, Bernadine Marurchak, Emmit and James Gallagher. Mrs. Karpa will also be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Patrick and Jack Gallagher. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am, Friday, at Saint Michael the Archangel Church, 66 Levittown Parkway, Levittown. The Rite of Committal take place at 1:00 pm at Skyview Memorial Park, Tamaqua. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Karpa's name to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia and Southeastern PA, One Valley Square, 512 Township Line Road, Suite 133, Blue Bell, PA 19422, would be appreciated by the family.
