

Constance (Connie) Helen Shivers (nee Engel) of Levittown, PA was called to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 after a brief illness at Jefferson Bucks Campus, Langhorne PA surrounded by her family. She was 88 years young.
Born and raised in Chicago, IL, she was a graduate of the 1955 class of Augustana Hospital School of Nursing, also in Chicago IL, with a Registered Nurse Degree. On a trip to the Mardi Gras in New Orleans, LA in March of 1957, she met the love of her life, the late John Turner Shivers, Jr. of Swedesboro, NJ on a Paddlewheel while on the Mississippi River. They fell in love and were married the 12th of October the same year and began their lives together in the brand new Junewood Section of Levittown and never left.
After completing her training, Connie continued to work at Augustana Hospital in Chicago and later at the Chicago Veterans Hospital. She then went on to become a RN at both the Delaware Valley Hospitals located originally in Bristol, PA and Langhorne, PA (which is now Jefferson Bucks Campus). She also was a Substitute School Nurse for Bristol Township School System while her children were young and finally retired from Lower Bucks Hospital as a RN in the Psychiatric Unit in Bristol PA.
Connie was a member of the Paramount Tall Club in Chicago IL in her younger days and enjoyed the city life dating at times members of the Chicago Bears. Once married, she was a member of the original Junewood Women's Club of Levittown. She enjoyed all their activities like the many Junewood Picnics, neighbor picnics, Halloween parties and Santa Clause Fire Engine visits on Christmas Eve. Being a devout catholic, Connie belonged to St Michael the Arch Angel Catholic Church located in Tullytown PA since she moved to Levittown and in her later years could be found on the right side of the church for 12 o'clock Mass every Sunday. She also loved going to the "Brook" pool during the summer with her children and taking classes at the LPRA consisting of Cake Decorating, Flower Arranging, and Belly Dancing. She was active in the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and taught many a First Aid class for badges. While her children were in school, Connie was an avid bowler and could be found playing on the women or mixed leagues at Fair Lanes, Levittown Lanes or the Jubilee Lanes. In her later years, she was a member of the Red Hat groups The Red Hot Razzle Dazzle Mamas of Bucks County and The Stellar Purple Poppies where she enjoyed many activities with her Granddaughter such as their many High Teas. Also, she belonged to the Levittown Senior Citizens doing Tai Chi and Chair Yoga among other things, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 834 Fallsington, PA. Connie also loved going to Ocean City NJ for her "Fishy Dinner" during the summer. You could always find her working in her beautiful garden or reading a book with her faithful pug by her side.
Beloved daughter of the late Clara (Shamanski) and the late Alexander J Engel, Connie was the loving sister of Alexander Engel (Iola) Escanaba, MI and the late James Engel (Janice) of Neshkoro WI. She was the loving mother of John T Shivers, III of Levittown, PA, Lolain (Lanie) M Striluk (Michael) of Fairless Hills, PA, the late James (Big Jim) T Shivers of Levittown, Pa/Grand Cayman Island, and Justin T Shivers (Sandi) of Berlin, NJ.She was the loving and proud Grandmother (Grammy) of Breannin (Breezy) and Zachary (Zack) Striluk, Fairless Hills, PA and will be sorely missed by lots of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and very dear friends. Connie will also be missed by all the people who over the years called her Mumzie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing from 9 until 10 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 66 Levittown Parkway, Levittow where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery Bensalem.
