David Wayne Gallagher Sr.

David W. Gallagher, Sr., of Levittown, PA, passed peacefully surrounded by family on January 22, 2024. He was 73 years old. Born in Trenton, NJ on July 19, 1950, and raised in Washington Crossing, PA, he was the son of the late Donald and Trudy Gallagher.

After graduating from Pennsbury High School in 1968, he attended Bucks County Community College and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Business. He then began a decades long career at First Federal Savings and Loan of Bucks County, where he held several roles. Over the years, Dave worked for several different businesses, but in the end, his favorite role was working at Trader Joe’s in his semi-retirement, a job that reminded him of his youth working at grocery stores in Newtown, PA and at the shore in high school.

Spending summers at the shore on Long Beach Island since he was 6, Dave loved everything related to the shore - surfing, swimming in the ocean, water skiing, fishing. He loved teaching the next generation to love the water, whether it was teaching someone to boogie board, or go clamming or water skiing in Barnegat Bay.

In 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lu Barber and together they settled in Fairless Hills and then Levittown to raise their family. An active member of Langhorne Presbyterian Church, Dave was a trustee of the church for many years as well as an active member of the men’s group.

Throughout his life, Dave was someone who showed his love for his family and friends by working on projects with and for others, doing for those who could not, and teaching those who were interested in learning. Dave was always working on something, from stepping stools made from grape boxes to beautiful windchimes or major remodeling projects on his home, Dave loved to work with his hands and was always puttering around in his shop. He was an avid gardener and loved spending time with his children and grandson.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lu, his daughter, Jane Lund and her husband Jon and son Jack, his son David W. Gallagher, Jr. and his wife Christin Noble, as well as his brother Donald W. Gallagher, Jr. and wife Bobbie, sister Nancy Foley and husband John, and loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11 AM at Langhorne Presbyterian Church, 125 East Gillam Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dave’s memory to organizations that reflect the things important in Dave’s life.
