Mr. Barnett taught me Algebra. He explained Algebra in such a way that flipped a switch in my mind from confusion to understanding. This was a cornerstone moment. It set the foundation for my future Math degree.
May God Grant him Memory Eternal.

I just came across Don's obituary and was saddened to hear of his passing.  I played tennis with Don for many years and we kept in touch after Don stopped playing tennis.
Don was a kind and caring person and always had a smile for everyone. 

My heart and prayers go out to Don's family.

We met Don in 2021 at Bristol Lanes Senior Tuesday bowling.
We did not know him for a long time,  but he was such a friendly,
kind and nice person to all, and  he will  truly be missed.

This amazing man is the reason that I became a teacher. Mr. Barnett you touched so many hearts, instilled confidence and a sense of accomplishment in so many children, and taught a bunch of math along the way!! Know that your compassion, love, and dedication to your craft lives on in all of the many students’ whose lives you made better just being you. May you rest in eternal peace and may your family find peace in knowing that your journey was one of unmeasurable depth. You will forever be irreplaceable. 

What a wonderful person and great teacher and coach.  I worked with him at Fisher Jr.I send my deepest sympathy to Don’s family.

We have known Don for many years. Rick went to Trenton State College with Don.He was a great friend.

My deepest condolences to Don's loved ones during this most difficult time.  Your dad will always be with you, in spirit. This is so surreal, as i am in denial, since I saw Don recently for our  usual  dinner plans. Don was a fine gentleman and a man that was well respected.   If I knew that night (20th)at the diner would be the last time I would see you, I would have given you a longer embrace.  I know you are in heaven  reunited with your loved ones. But missing you greatly and always will  be me, my dearest friend ❤  love you. 

Don you were the nicest guy I knew. You had the kindest heart to me, my family and everyone you met. I enjoyed having my first apartment near yours and keeping in touch with you all these years. Rest in peace and you will always be remembered. 

Mr. B. your presence was always felt beyond the classroom and court!  Those whom knew you in those capacities would share the same sentiments. A teacher/mentor whom walked me through my mom’s passing in 7th grade, being gracious & understanding, to sticking by my side on the court & cheering me on in life. You caredyou didn’t shy away from asking how things were going, and when God took your wife a couple years later we shared in the silence of loss together with an understanding of love & loss. You showed up with apples for your players (golden delicious for me) & halls breezes when I had a cold.  You taught us all how to show up & love well when life gets hard. You are a treasure & surely this world & our community is better because of your presence. Thank you to his amazing boys for sharing your father with us all, you are truly blessed to have the greatest on your side & watching over you! 

Don will be missed by all our tennis friends . He was a great tennis player and such a sweet man. I loved playing with him.   I am sure he and Richie are playing right now in heaven. Rest easy my friend!

We are going to miss Don very much, he was a great person, very friendly and outgoing.  He was on our bowling team.  Rest in peace Don.

Mr. Barnett was one of a kind. He was my basketball coach while at Ewing High School. Mr. Barnett took the time to get to know you. He allowed you to be seen and feel valued. The dedication, love and care he showed will never be forgotten. May God wrap you in his arms. To his family and friends, my deepest sympathy. 

My prayers for the family. Mr. Barnett was my math teacher at Fisher in 1970. He was a great teacher to me which I wasn't a A student by far. My brother Alan Hutson had him the year before me and my sister had him the year after me. I struggled in his class but he helped me a lot. 

He was great friend and a very helpful person.  He will be greatly missed by all his tennis friends and acquaintances.  

Mr. Barnett was a truly remarkable man.  Loved by all who were LUCKY enough to know him. Even those (me and many others)  who did not like math.  He made the subject interesting and was a very funny and caring man.  He is now with his wife Tahoma and I am very happy for him. God bless Mr. B!  He was one of a kind and will be truly missed.  I am forever grateful for all the memories in the two years that we shared on Blue/Beta.  - Class of 2005.

I have known Don since our undergraduate days at Trenton State College.  We enjoyed good times there with many friends.  In recent years we have met at lunch time with the Schendlinger’s whose sons he also taught and coached in Ewing. We kept in touch about our lives, our children and grandchildren. He was very proud of his sons and their families. I can’t believe he is gone so soon but I know he is happy to be reunited with his wife Toni (as we knew Tahoma). I will miss his friendship. 

I'm so sorry to hear about Don. I knew him for many years; we played tennis together. He was such a genuinely nice, caring, and thoughtful person and friend. Don and I would chat for several minutes after our drills, long after all of our other friends were gone. Our tennis group missed seeing him on the courts. I was hoping to visit with him last month, but he wasn't up for it. Don was hoping to get back on the courts this spring; even though he won't be there with us physically, he'll be there with us spiritually. 

Don was my oldest and best friend even though he drove me crazy sometimes.  I loved him with all my heart.  I will miss him dearly.   

So sorry for your loss.  I so wish to be there with you all.  Sending love and hugs to Donny, David and the whole family. Love you. 

Don was and will always be family to me. A great brother in law with a kind soul. Rest well Don. You will be missed.

Sending love and condolences to your family. Will always treasure his Don's encouraging nature,  for he was such a kind person and great friend. Meeting him on the tennis court over 40 Years ago, we've had many long rallies and conversations over the years. He was an easy person to talk to and wouldn't even conclude the good-bye,  even when the car window was rolled up and backing up in reverse.  I hope,  Don you are watching a match, planning your next yoga class and at peace always. 

My sincerest sympathies go out to Don's family.  I taught with Don from 1969-74 and remember him as one of the nicest gentlemen I ever met --- admired and respected by students and teachers alike.

His affirmed good humor and personal humanity was a treasured part of my many memories at Fisher Jr. High. I can still hear his voice and kind words of encouragement. Coach Barnett was a great man with a huge heart and kind soul.  Had him in Jr High for Math and for coach of Track & Field.  He was a great mentor for me.  Taught me that "girls can do anything".  My friend and I joined the field team under his coaching when girls did not do that and we had his full support and he even bought a girls javelin for us when the school did not have one.  Missing a great soul - reunited with his beloved wife who he missed very much.  A guardian angle for all that knew him for sure.  Love and blessing to his sons and family for the grief they have.  Know that many loved him and he touched many lives in a great way. 

I am heartbroken to hear this. Mr. Barnett was not only my teacher but someone I considered a friend for a very long time. He was always so very kind and always tried to guide me in the right direction. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.RIP my friend.

He had a big heart.  He was always wiling to help his students no matter the time of the day.  He would make himself available during lunch, before school or after school.  He even had former students visit from high school to receive help.  He was always available.  He never had enough chalk and it was always all over his hands and on his pants.  He had a smile that made you smile and brighten your day.  I consider myself to be fortunate for the opportunity to work with Don.  He was a real teacher who understood it was more about being willing to build relationships then having all the answers.   

Mr Barnett was one of my favorite teachers. I remember in 9th grade, someone stole my yearbook he went and photocopied the entire yearbook and bound it for me.  I was so grateful for him.  I even made it a point after I graduated to stop in at Fisher often to say hello to him.  He was an amazing and caring teacher.  My thought are with his family and friends.  

Don was a wonderful Math teacher, Track Coach, Baseball Official and Friend. He loved the youth he taught and he loved his family and friends well. Don will be missed and always lovingly remembered. 

Math was never one of my favorite subjects but Mr Barnett made it fun. He was always willing to stay late to give students extra help if they needed it. He was a great listener too. Write this down was drummed in my head!

   I am proud to say I was a member of Coach Barnetts 1977 / 78 track team at Fisher. Coach Barnett had a huge influence on me as a Coach and teacher. He taught me alot about team work and friendship, lessons I use  with family, friends and in my career. My condolences along with thoughts and prayers to the Barnett family.  He will be missed,  Rest in peace Coach !

Donald was one of my favorite cousins for many, many years.  We talked, cried and laughed together.  I will miss him daily, knowing that I can't pick up the phone and say hi.  My prayers and condolences are with the family.

Mr B was very admired by many of my classmates at Fisher and Ewing High. He had a heart of gold, a great sense of humor and was obviously a great coach! I was always so happy that he kept in touch on FB! My condolences to all his beloved family members.

He was my math teacher in Jr high. I remember him fondly. Not only was he a brilliant mathematician, he was able to simplify it and teach it, not many have both of these great talents. And on top of that he was a caring person. He was a big reason I made it through the socially difficult Jr. Year with any sanity. He helped me with my self esteem with math and track. I will always remember him fondly. I am sure he touched so many other students lives. A life well lived. RIP. Heavan gained a great man, he will be missed.
