Beloved husband, father and grandpa, Douglas C. Morgan passed away on January 21, 2025, in Yardley, PA at the age of 77. He was born to his parents Charles C. Morgan and Peggy G. Morgan in Takoma Park, Maryland.
Doug graduated from Thomas Edison High School in 1966. He attended American University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Doug met the love of his life, Susan, in 1964 in Springfield, VA and they have been inseparable ever since. They married in 1977 and started their family together.
Doug started his 37-year career in law enforcement in California. While in California, he spent time as an officer with both the Sausalito and Richmond Police Departments. Doug eventually came back east where he was hired as an officer for the United States Secret Service Uniform Division. Doug spent time stationed at the White House during both the Ford and Carter Administrations. Doug loved to tell the story about the time he and President Ford talked football on the South Lawn of the White House. In 1977 Doug was hired as a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms in the Philadelphia Field Division, where he stayed until his retirement as a supervisor in 2004. While with ATF, Doug spent time in both the Philadelphia and Trenton Field Offices. Doug was also a member of the ATF’s Special Response Team, which was responsible for the serving of high-risk warrants. During his career, Doug received several awards for his work with ATF.
While Doug and Susan’s three children were growing up, he spent his free time volunteering and being involved in their activities. Doug volunteered for almost a decade as a coach for YMS and he, along with others, started the YMS Columbus Day Tournament. He was also a member of the PHS Football Parents Club and held coaching positions on many of his daughter’s travel softball teams. He never missed an event or a game, no matter how far away, he was always there supporting his children.
Following Doug’s retirement, he conducted background investigations for the Federal Government as a contractor. Doug also worked at Makefield Highlands Golf Club as a Ranger.
Doug was a people person. He enjoyed meeting new people, telling stories and being around others. His warmth, kindness, and ability to connect with others left an incredible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was also the definition of a family man. The love and devotion that he had for his wife, children, and grandchildren was beyond anything else. He loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, cheering them on from the stands. He was a devoted sports fan following the Washington Capitals, Washington Commanders, New York Yankees, and NASCAR, and passed that enthusiasm down to his children and grandchildren. Doug also enjoyed playing golf with family and friends and stopping by the golf course to hit golf balls any chance he got.
Doug is survived by his loving wife and best friend Susan of 47 years, his children Bradley (Melissa) of Lititz, PA, Jason (Abby) of Medina, OH, and Brittany (Christopher) of Levittown, PA, as well as his six grandchildren Christopher, Kaitlyn, Alice, Jacob, Jack, and Charlie. Doug is also survived by his sister Terri of North Carolina and his niece Kathryn.
